Safety Trainer/Assistant
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Safety Trainer/Assistant to support our Safety Manager with administrative and safety-related tasks. This role plays a key part in maintaining compliance, promoting employee well‑being, conducting hands-on training on the production floor, and ensuring smooth safety operations across all departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct training for new and existing employees on various EHS topics; provide retraining as needed due to regulatory or requirement changes.
- Maintain inventory levels, order supplies, and restock first aid materials, PPE, and other production-related safety items.
- Complete new hire safety paperwork, PPE distribution, and locker assignments.
- Track and manage safety awareness documentation, training rosters, and scheduling.
- File and organize drug testing documentation.
- Assist with the administration of Worker’s Compensation, including filing online claims, maintaining injury/medical files, and running reports.
- Coordinate and document the annual hearing conservation program.
- Perform monthly fire extinguisher inspections (where applicable).
- Audit and update MSDS/SDS binders.
- Monitor and file security guard inspection reports and shift overviews (where applicable).
- Collect and file daily production safety inspection documents.
- Participate in Safety Committee meetings and serve as the meeting scribe.
- Monitor First Aid cabinet inventory and assist with data entry for tracking.
- Schedule annual and follow‑up trainings (e.g., bloodborne pathogens, first aid, respirator training).
- Provide on‑demand employee support, such as PPE replacements and First Aid items.
- Serve as backup to the HR Assistant during absences and assist employees as needed.

Education & Experience
- High school diploma required.
- Additional post‑secondary coursework or training in administrative support is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods (50% or more).
- Manual dexterity to operate a computer and related equipment using hands, fingers, and repetitive motion.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.
- Ability to access various departments throughout the facility.
- Comfortable in a refrigerated environment.
- Clear, audible speech and good hearing to interact with staff and respond to multiple simultaneous demands.
